Regional Food and Agroterrorism

The FBI's Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Directorate, Countermeasure Unit II, Infrastructure Protection Team has developed and will host a Regional Food and Agroterrorism Workshops in Des Moines, IA, on August 10 -12, 2010.

The Workshops will further develop the investigative, intelligence and coordination efforts currently underway by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces in local field offices by allowing Federal, State and local law enforcement the opportunity to interact and cross-train on topics of basic food and agriculture security awareness with their counterparts with the Federal Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture and relevant food and agriculture security professionals. 

The Workshops will provide fundamental WMD response protocols to an attack on the national food and agriculture systems, investigative techniques, case studies, guest speakers and a table-top exercise. 

In addition, the Workshops will provide detailed information relating to current WMD issues, current United States Government Counterterrorism/WMD policy, and interagency liaison issues.
