This presentation is focused on mitigating the increased bed bug issues that health departments, shelter administrators and health care providers have to contend with. The program reviews how bed bugs are introduced, how they travel, their identification, bed bug myths, pests often confused with bed bugs, where bed bugs hide and how to inspect for them. In addition, we will be covering protection and precautions: how to keep service workers from bringing them back home or transporting them to other locations. the attendee will learn how to deal with the problem at work by developing and implementing a plan of action, educating staff and clients, tried and true control and management alternatives, and principles of bed bug integrated pest management.
